Members open a private channel with staff by pressing a button on the ticket panel. Each ticket has a number and a channel called ticket-0042. The member fills in a short form first, and a transcript goes to the log when the ticket closes.

Opening a ticket

Press the button for what your ticket is about: A guild application checks your Minecraft name with Mojang, and a name that doesn’t exist is refused. If you have linked your account with /link, your name is filled in for you. You can have one open ticket of each type. Pressing the same button again points you to the one you have. Only you, the ticket staff and the bot can see the channel.

Inside a ticket

  • Claim (staff) shows who is handling the ticket. Press it again to unclaim.
  • Close asks for an optional reason. You can close your own ticket, and staff can close any ticket.
  • /ticket add user and /ticket remove user (staff) bring another member in or take them out.
  • /ticket close [reason] works like the Close button.
When a ticket closes, you get a DM with the reason, the transcript goes to the staff log, and the channel is deleted a few seconds later. Staff can reopen a closed ticket from the log for 24 hours. It gets a new channel with the same number.

Setting it up (staff)

On the Tickets page of /setup, pick:
  • the panel channel
  • the category where ticket channels are made
  • the staff role
  • the log channel
Then press Post the panel. Posting again replaces the old panel. Members can’t open tickets until a category is set. The bot needs these permissions:
  • Manage Channels and Manage Roles server-wide. Manage Roles is Discord’s name for editing a channel’s permission overwrites, which /ticket add and /ticket remove do. The bot never gives anybody a role.
  • View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files and Read Message History in the category.
  • Attach Files in the log channel.
Transcripts need the Message Content intent switched on for the bot in the Discord Developer Portal. Without it, the transcript lists the messages but not their text.
